Stone age is to fire as new age to electricity. The morning today begins with the alarm clock, the electronic brushes making an early morning easier and water heaters turning the languid bath in a luscious spa. You throw your clothes in a fully automatic washer and dryer and ready for pulling the milk can from your new three-door defrost refrigerator. The oven, the toaster, the microwave and the coffee maker are all geared up to serve the fabulous feast you can ever imagine to gobble without a disagreement which comes complimentary when you play ‘Whodunnit’ instead of employing euphoric electric servants. Timeless and tidy appliances have chopped off those elaborate meal deals allowing you to drive down to your favorite beach house.
With our lives driving down the fast tracks, who has time to scrub and brush those small household chores? The elegant woman with the pearl necklace and high heels is all appreciative of the dishwasher and the vacuum cleaners, if not the husbands. You never imagined fun in the sun until air conditioners came into being. A prerequisite to the contemporary lifestyles appliances are a necessity than a luxury. The key to be a super mom today is to watch wonder kid and Electric house.
The Sunday newspaper, cricket in the afternoon with the smart kids and salsa in the evening to please your wife, would only be an unrealistic dream if the plug and play technology wasn’t invented. You don’t have to run to the employment bureaus anymore for the domestic help, just prepare yourself to pay the electricity bills and whoa! Life is bliss. Say goodbye to those muscle pulls, backaches, twisted necks and tired arms; enjoy the new taste of life. Though the appliances do it all for us (leaving us obese coupled with lung problems due to carbon monoxide released by them), aren’t we hungry for more?

Can you picture yourself in your den living a life without wires? Hair dryers to egg beaters, who say diamonds, are woman’s best friends? Remember the primitive days when your community slogged and toiled to make everyone happy in the family? The less electricity and space consuming devices are indispensable to a modern woman’s existence and especially to single parents (fathers are you listening?).
With the coffee makers brewing the strong, frothy, smooth coffee and vacuum cleaners eating up dog’s hair without giving you sneezes the benefits of small appliances are obvious. With Mon Uncle winning best film in 1958 by Jacques Tati, the world knew that the old irksome tasks were soon to be a thing of the past. Electric sewing machines, can openers, hand blenders and knife sharpeners are things your grand mothers could only dream of. Brooms look good only in the witchcraft movies, they must be replaced by handy vacuum cleaners in the real life or we will have a hair pulling stories to tell to our kids.
Don’t be surprised to know that the biggest slum in India Dharavi, where people die of hunger can’t resist these small appliances, as they are easy to maintain and store and consume less electricity. Yes you know that the food is ready when the smoke alarm goes off, thanks to the technical innovation. Need warm water? Try electric kettles. Rice cookers to crispy grilled sandwich makers, mini refrigerators to electric irons, ice cream maker to popcorn-maker, they can be accommodated on any platform from countertops to tabletops. Isn’t it food delicious?
Setting in the trend for convenience life, making each one of us independent and self-sufficient, small appliances have redefined gastronomical glee. You am sure would not want to shed tears because of those annoying onions.

Home appliance is a term which is used to describe electrical/ mechanical products used for help with household functions such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal grooming, and comfort.
Home appliances are typically classified into two main categories:
A) Small Appliances
B) Major Appliances
According to wikipedia, small appliance refers to class of appliances that are semi-portable or are used on tabletops, countertops and other platforms. These are often taken out when needed and stored away when not in use. Some example of small home appliances are – coffee makers, blenders, juicers, rice cookers, food processors, mixers, toasters, toaster ovens (which are all kitchen appliances); vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners (which are cleaning appliances); steam irons, garment steamers, clothes shavers (which are laundry appliances); hair dryers, hair strengtheners, curling irons, electric toothbrushes, electric men’s shavers, ladies personal shavers & epilators, hair clippers (for personal care ); electric fans, space heaters, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers (which are all home comfort appliances).
Major Appliance are defined as fixtures that are not easily moved. These are large and wired into an electrical supply or permanently plugged into a household electrical outlet. They usually remain in place when a property is purchased or sold. The kitchen stove, range hood, microwave oven, refrigerator, dish washer, washing machine, and dryer are the most common examples of major appliances.
There are now some appliances which have traditionally been considered major , but may also be classified as small appliances. These include portable air conditioners, portable washing machines, and portable dish washers.
In today’s e-world, there are many websites, forums, and other online resources available at the click of a mouse. In addition, there are manufacturer’s websites, and many retailers have websites that show the makes and models that they carry. Since small appliances are more easily shipped from a retailer to a consumer, they are often sold on through online stores.
However, consumers should be aware that the voltage for home appliances differs in different parts of the world, so an appliance purchased in Europe or Asia will not work in North America. The United States and Canada use 120 volt small appliances, while most other countries use 220 volts.
There are numerous brands of both small and major appliances, each with different models with varying features. It is a good idea to do some research prior to purchasing a home appliance.
